Presentation to Crandall Foundation Held on June 7, 2016
On June 7, 2016, the 100 Women Who Care Albany chapter presented checks for $7300.00 to the Donna M. Crandall Foundation. The presentation was held at Albany Medical Center and attended by about 20 members of the chapter and volunteers for the foundation.
The Crandall Foundation, named for Donna M. Crandall, who fought cystic fibrosis (CF) for 41 years, provides gift bags to CF patients and helps with some expenses associated with hospitalization. The Foundation, in cooperation with Albany Medical Center, will use the 100 Women Who Care Albany donation of $7,300 to refurbish and make the CF patients room more comfortable.
Lisa Cheney, vice president of the Crandall Foundation was on hand to accept the checks on behalf of the organization. She spoke about the challenges those that have CF and their families face with this genetic disease. She also highlighted the ways this highly-regarded local foundation works to support patients and families.
Sarah, a 100WWC Albany member, stated: “Hearing the stories of local individuals and how they are making a difference and raising awareness is inspiring. To know that what I give is going directly to a local organization means a lot to me. I love the idea of being with a group of remarkable women who share the same energy to give back.”
New members are always welcome to share in this powerful experience. It’s a simple concept with a big impact. The next 100WWC Albany meeting will be held on August 11, 2016 at 5:30 in the Fellowship Hall of the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Avenue, in Delmar. The Albany chapter is one of more than 350 affiliates of the 100 Who Care National Alliance 100whocarealliance.org.
Very Successful First Meeting!
What a night!! The inaugural meeting for the Albany NY chapter of 100 Women Who Care was held on May 12, 2016. 70 ladies were in attendance to support our new chapter.
Three outstanding nominations were selected to present at our first meeting; The Huntington’s Disease Albany Society, Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital District along with the Donna M. Crandall Foundation. All are perfect examples of so many Albany area charities where we can make a difference.
Our members selected the Donna M. Crandall Foundation (donnacrandallfoundation.org) – raising more than $7000 for this worthy charity in less than an hour! This foundation supports families of Cystic Fibrosis patients admitted to Albany Medical Center. Please check out their website, donnacrandallfoundation.org, for more information.
