Our first meeting of 2018, held on February 8, started off with a big leap forward as we welcomed fourteen new members. What a great way to start the new year.
At the meeting, we started off with an update from November’s recipient, Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless. Janine Robitaille, the Executive Director of Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, shared how our funds will be supplying a much needed medical exam room for their clients. We look forward to visiting after completion.
We enjoyed another wonderful half-hour hearing from three great local charities:
- Capital Roots – Nourish healthy communities by providing access to fresh food and green spaces for all. Their vision for the future is of a Capital Region where every person has access to fresh, affordable, healthy food.
- The Miracle League of the Capital Region – Offers athletic and social opportunities at no cost to special needs children, adults and their families. The League promotes physical, social and emotional development while providing an extended support group and knowledge base to participants and their families.
- The RED Bookshelf – a literacy program dedicated to getting books into children’s homes. Through community efforts, their enthusiastic staff and teams of volunteers collect, prepare, and distribute books on RED Bookshelves located throughout Albany.
Congratulations to The RED Bookshelf who became the recipient of tonight’s collective giving!
