100 Women Who Care Albany continued with a virtual meeting for February 2021. At this meeting we had three worthy charities that were nominated and presented via pre-recorded video. Our members had four days to view the videos and websites of the nominated charity and then vote on their choice for this quarter’s giving. The charities nominated where:

1. Capital District Women Veterans – Provide support services for local women veterans to transistion to civilian life.
2. Family Promise of the Capital Region – Affirms the humanity and dignity of homeless families, and engages our community in helping them achieve sustainable independence.
3. Literacy Volumnteers of Rensselaer County – Teaching people to read, write and speak English, empoering students to be advocates for themselves, and educating the larger community about literacy issues.

The winner is Family Promise of the Capital Region. They will be using the funds to support the Family Assistance Project which helps families that are temporaritly unable to help themselves. The need in this area has grown dramatically during the COVID pandemic and the organization is receiving a steady stream of new referrals and requests from existing families.

100 Women Who Care Albany is grateful that we have been able to meet virtually and continue to support local non-profits that are doing exceptional work in the communities of the Capital Region. We encourage everyone to continue supporting our local non-profits.

Our next meeting will be May 13, 2021 and will likely continue virtually. We welcomed a number of new members at our last meeting. We look forward to current and new members participating in our next meeting. Learn more here.
